Become a Blue

A shirt in the moment of growth

The Weight 21 meets the players when many things have yet to find a definitive form. There are those who play with continuity in the clubs and who seeks space, who is accustomed to the great stadiums and who discovers for the first time an international tournament. The summons gather them in a team called to grow while competing.

The nickname Azzurrini expresses closeness to the major, but this selection has an autonomous history. His Europeans have produced samples, memorable evenings and disappointments that belong fully to the Italian memory. The result counts, along with the ability to face new responsibilities away from the habits of your club.

1992–1996

The generation he learned to win

Three consecutive European titles, in 1992, 1994 and 1996, transform the weight 21 of Cesare Maldini into a reference to Italian football. Between one edition and the other, some interpreters change, but it remains the ability to build a competitive group and to cross decisive matches.

Those successes are not just a list of results. They show a season in which the relationship between training in clubs and blue experience produces continuity. For many fans to follow the Azzurri means to see growing players who will find again in the major, with memories already linked to another Italian jersey.

2000–2004

Other two titles, other roads

The title of 2000 and 2004 lead to five European victories in Italy. The generations are approached and the teams find different balances. It is one of the most interesting features of Weight 21: you can’t hold a group for a long time, because its very reason to be predicted that players pass beyond.

The palmarès tells this excellence without turning it into a guarantee. Not all protagonists will follow the same path and the value of a tournament does not automatically coincide with what will happen ten years later. Each group deserves to be observed for what they can build together.

New cycles

Winning and preparing the next step

Later editions add finals, eliminations and new occasions of comparison. Youth football times change, while the European continues to gather players who are looking for a stable place at the highest level. In this space the National must reconcile ambition and development.

In the 2025 edition, Italy reaches the quarterfinals. The story of a selection does not end with the last match of the tournament: immediately begins a new cycle, with allowed ages, convocations and different goals. The old staff cards or results remain documents of their time, not automatic photographs of the current team.

2026

The road to Albania and Serbia 2027

As of October 30, 2026, the Azzurri were led by Silvio Baldini and won the final qualifying for the European Championship 2027, scheduled in Albania and Serbia. The decisive passage arrives on 5 October in Pescara, with the success on Poland that is the first place in the group.

Qualification opens a perspective, does not anticipate the outcome of the tournament. The new page will follow the group through the already played appointments, distinguishing what happened from what has yet to be played. The link with the major will continue to be part of the path, along with the identity of this team.
