Media
The images, voices and sounds of blue memory. Browse through the collections, find a radiochronic or relive a moment through the preserved materials.
From the Latin medium, “means”, media identifies the means or channel used to communicate information, such as print or radio. Multimedia describes the combination of different languages and formats in one piece of content: text, photographs, audio and video, including interactive elements.
The term multimedia became widespread in the late 1980s and early 1990s, expressing the idea of communicating through many means. It also describes how we tell the Azzurri’s story: pictures to explore, voices and music to hear, films to watch and documents to read come together in one archive.
Media: through which means or channel?
Multimedia: which languages and formats work together?
