The blue futsal

Another rhythm for the same shirt

In the futsal the game changes direction continuously and time seems to compress. Reduced space, rotations and speed of combinations build a different experience from football to eleven. The Italian shirt also crosses this field, with a story that can not be told only as a variant of that of the National Major.

The first game of the representation dates back to 1984. Since then, the Azzurri have built an international path that can take them both to the European summit and to the world podium. The results measure this growth; the matches allow to recognize its personality.

2003

The first cup, in front of its audience

The first European arrived in 2003, at Caserta. Winning in the house gave the result a particular closeness: the trophy was not only the final point of a tournament, but an opportunity for a wider audience to meet the Italian futsal and its protagonists.

That success opened a high-level continuity season. A year later, Italy reached the World Final, which ended with the second place. The European cup and silver iridate belong to different competitions, but together they tell a representative able to support repeated comparisons with the strongest teams.

Three times below on the world podium

In 2004 the bronzes of 2008 and 2012 followed. Three consecutive World Cup podiums are the clearest sign of that stage in blue history: not just a successful tournament, but a regular presence in matches that assigned medals.

The third place of 2012 reached Colombia in the final for bronze. Behind the square there are also the previous steps, the races won and the need to regain energy after a lost semi-final. A bronze medal requires you to return to the field when the title dream is just over: it's a different test, which deserves to be remembered.

2014

The second European title

In 2014, in Belgium, Italy returned Europe champion. It was eleven years from Caserta and the new success added a second continental cup to the futsal basin. The time spent between the two victories makes visible the work necessary to return to power after the replacement of the teams.

In addition to the titles, the European silver of 2007 remains and the bronzes of 1999, 2005 and 2012. These are results that help to read the path more seamlessly, avoiding the disappearance of the years in which Italy came close to victory without being able to conquer it.

A bullet from which to start

In Futsal EURO 2026 Italy stopped at the quarterfinals, beat 4–0 from Spain. The balance sheet of the continental titles remains firm to the successes of 2003 and 2014. Bringing back the last participation next to the trophies allows to distinguish the memory of the triumphs from the most recent situation.

The blue futsal also includes the growth of female and youth representations. Their paths have their own pages and competitions: we do not see results of different categories in the masculine board. The link is the knitting, while the stories must be followed with the attention each deserves.
