The name of Augusto Rangone appears in this section thanks to the prestigious Olympic result obtained with the National at a time when, such competition, was not yet open to the Sun Representatives Under 21, as it happens today. His success, therefore, must be ascribed among those obtained by the National Major. Rangone is one of the fathers-founders of Italian football. His name was to be constrict with that of the legendary Vittorio Pozzo and there are many parallels between the two; both piemontesis of birth, with Rangone who had been born in Alexandria, while Pozzo was Turin.

Committed to the front during World War I, from which Rangone returned with the rank of Captain. Both journalists and several times leading the Italian National Team, with different roles; they lived in contrast to the concept of football, Rangone was nicknamed “Romantic Commissioner”, while Pozzo was “classic”. For him, the technique and the game of singles, had to be at the service of the team.

The invention, the gesture of the athlete-calciator who has from his imagination, that allows to strike as spark of art, the illuminating passage, the winning axist or the drunk dribbling, had to be useful to the group and its game, which had to have an orderly and precise technical and tactical order. The goal, was the final suggello born of an idea, which kicked off the attack action, the last logical product of a perfect device, in which all the players of the team had to participate. As Augustus Rangone said, he was an Alexandrian of birth and was among the founders of the U.S.

Alexandria, as well as the Italian national football team, of which he was later also technical, then became arbitrator and head of the arbitration committee, as well as among the League's top executives. Good last was a great journalist, able to tell from the columns of newspapers, sportsmen and not the various sporting events of the heroes of the Italian pawn.

In football, the one not played with his feet, was one of the most representative Italian figures, from the foundation of the movement to the beginning of World War II; it was a true reference figure behind the scenes, working to increase the football movement, with the Lega Calcio and above all it was important his work, in recuciting the tear of 1922, which led to the split between F.I.G.C. double in two championships and the assignment of your titles of Campione d’Italia.

Augusto Rangone, from the early 20s, is almost always present in the commissions under the guidance of the National Team, in cohabitation with other technicians of the time, both in person. The first time leading the blue team, he was in the company of Umberto Meazza and Galletti on 3 December 22, experience that will last until 27 May 23. Then for only one race on 20 January 24, against Austria, always with Meazza and Galletti, but also in the company of Silver and Augustin.

After the 1924 Paris Olympics, Augusto Rangone succeeded Vittorio Pozzo in charge of the Italian National Team, leading him for 20 consecutive solo games from 04-11-1925 until 10-06-1928, with players of absolute world value such as Combi, Rossetta (Juve), Schiavio (Bologna), Caligaris (Casale), Balonceri, Libonatti (Torino) He brought the National Team to the top of the 1928 Olympic Final in Amsterdam, but was stopped in the semifinals by Uruguay (2-1), which then won a few years after the first World Championship; he then refected extensively in the final for the 3rd place, with one of the biggest victories ever of Italian football with 11-3, on Egypt 10-06-1928.

Among the most important results, beyond third place in the Olympics, was the victory over Hungary, a leading team of world football in the 20s and 30s. At the end of his adventure at the head of the National Team, after Olimpiade, he landed at Pro Patria in A, at the end of the 1929-30 season round, called to lead the white-blues that were on the bottom of the ranking, by President Cav. Marcora, to support Bekey, as Technical Director.

He remained in the lead of the Pro until the 14th day of the 1930–31 championship, when he was replaced by Leopoldo Conti, former Ambrosian-Inter and several times in National as a player. Rangone was also a coach of Turin in 1937-38, called by the legendary Pres. Ferruccio Novo, who was beginning to assemble what will become the “Great Taurus”.
