The path
Soprannominato "Petru u turcu" or "Pietruzzo",centravanti, he debuted very young in Serie D with the Massiminiana of Catania, putting himself in light in his second championship, 1965-66, scoring 18 goals. At the age of 20, he went to Varese and scored goals in a gust that earned him the gig in Juventus, the greatest dream for a boy from the South who was him. He began in Serie A in 1967, not yet twenty years old, but scored 11 goals worth the first convocation in blue (after those of under 21 and national B).
He began with the national major on 08-06-1968 in the European final in Rome against Yugoslavia, which ended in parity. In the repetition he scored the goal of 2-0, graduating as a champion in Europe. He will become one of the protagonists of Juventus for the first half of the 70's, making a big contribution to the titles of 1971-72, 1972-73, 1974-75. He was ceded to Inter in the Boninsegna affair, but in Nerazzurri he showed signs of early ageing, no longer succeeding in scoring like a time. He was thus ceded to the Ascoli in 1979, a team with which he closed his career after 3 championships in maximum series.
In the championship he played 338 Serie A games, scoring 105 goals. Juventus played 205 games with 78 goals. For 3 times he was the third gunner in Serie A (1968-69, 1969-70 and 1973-74).
